Hating the "next" button - Shut those disrespectful websites down!

Image
I know I cannot be alone on this.  How many of us just groan.....and then want to just shut the web page down...when we follow through on a link to an article we are interested in and then the stupid site just wants to feed us a paragraph or two at a time with a stupid next button through oh say maybe 18 pages that could have told the whole story on just one page. All just so they can expose us to as many affiliate ads as possible on each page, of course. This is so disrespectful. If an author or blogger wants to speak to people, and they have come to them and their web page for information or a story....then show them some respect!  I absolutely hope that many other people rebel against this insidious problem on the internet by immediately closing the page down and never visiting their damn page again. Really. So I have gotten that off my chest. Thanks for letting me vent and as a gift back to you here is another of my photographs of an inquisitive skink.

I created this image from a photo I shot of our woodpile. I am now posting most of my photographs on my other website, Annod's Place , but will link to a few of them here. ©2018 Donna Storm

A response to the KKK gathering in Madison, Indiana

Image
I grew up in Madison, Indiana. And they are having a KKK rally on September 1st. I am totally disappointed that the mayor of that town is discouraging people to not respond to the rally. He states that "we would rather you not go to that location because they're looking for publicity". Well ....they already have the publicity.  The message sent to the world if no one shows up in counter-protest? Imagine the publicity then. KKK Rallies in Madison and NO ONE CARES. Thankfully there are plenty of people wise enough to ignore the Mayor's request.  There will be a peaceful protest of the KKK on East Vaughn Drive in front of Jaycee Park at 12:30 pm on September 1st with a cookout to follow. Please show up!!!!

"Trump administration officials, under pressure from the White House to provide a rationale for reducing the number of refugees allowed into the United States next year, rejected a study by the Department of Health and Human Services that found that refugees brought in $63 billion more in government revenues over the past decade than they cost." Quoting the Washington Post article Children Under Fire :  "In total, an estimated 8,400 children were hit, and more died — 1,458 — than in any year since at least 2010. That death toll exceeds the entire number of U.S. military fatalities in Afghanistan this decade." "Among high-income nations, 91 percent of children younger than 15 who were killed by gunfire lived in the United States." Stop the endless promotion of guns and gun culture. Please.

My reading and eating diet.....

I have been vegetarian since 1975,  In the past year or so I have become more and more vegan in my approach to food.  I have figured out that dairy really does not sit well with me, and I was also was heavily influenced by reading The China Study about a year ago. I have noticed that people tend to be semi-amused by my lunches.....I usually pack a bunch of carrots and kale and nuts.  I like to get all of my veggies in early in the day.  I might do something more complicated in the evening.....if I am not too lazy to do so.
